Phuktal monastery, Zanskar, India   Leave a comment


It was founded in the early twelfth century , the monastery is located at the entrance of a cave on a cliff, near a major river tributary Lungnak (Lingti-Tsarap).

About 70 monks live there, it has a library and a prayer room.

A stone tablet was left there by Kőrösi Csoma Sándor , a Hungarian who explored Tibet in 1826-1827 .
